Slide the way you are going
The panel always leaves to the left. Make Next leave to the left and Back to the right, using a transition type and one pair of keyframes.
Pass types: ["forwards"] or ["backwards"], set --way to -1 under :root:active-view-transition-type(backwards), and use it in the keyframes.
What Check tests
- Next: the transition has type forwards and --way is 1
- Back: the transition has type backwards and --way is -1
- Both clicks changed the step
