Phase 4: Text and Typography
CSS · Exercise 2 of 5 PreviousNext
Beginner

Make an article easy to read

Set the body text to 1.125rem (18px with the default) with a comfortable line height between 1.4 and 1.8.

Make sure the big pull quote (.big, 28px) also gets room between its lines, without setting a line height on it directly. (Hint: think about how line height is inherited.)

Limit the article's line length to a readable measure, between 45 and 75 characters.

What Check tests

  1. Paragraph text is 18px
  2. Paragraph line height is between 1.4 and 1.8 times the font size
  3. The big quote's lines have room too (at least 1.3 times its font size)
  4. The article has a readable max-width (about 45 to 75 characters)

Stuck? One hint at a time

The solution unlocks after your first Check. Try first: that is where the learning happens.
